POSTCARDS FROM SKEGNESS
One morning during my 1973 Season at Butlins Skegness, I was told by the Entertainments Manager, Alan Ridgway, that he was excusing me morning duties, and that I was to escort a photographer around the camp. Every now and then he would spot a scene he liked and snap away. A few times he asked me to go and find some children to pose with in shot. My duties over, I wished him adieu, and thought nothing more of it. Imagine my surprise, therefore, when sometime later (it may even have been the following season) I went into the camp shop to buy some postcards, and was presented with a selection on which I was featured. I immediately bought a dozen of each and sent them off to near friends and family. And that was that - GONE. Now however, thanks to the wonders of eBay, I have been able to retrieve a few of those "lost mementos" some thirty-four years on.
