On a slippery slope |
In 1969 I joined the Ayr Entertainments team as a lifeguard during the day, and Redcoat duties in the evenings.
I
immediately found
lots of new friends - from all departments.

That's me
with my chalet maid - Babs. [I think they modelled Peggy on her, in 'Hi-De-Hi.'] |
One of
the lovely waitresses from the dining hall. [That jacket
with trunks isn't a good look, is it.] |
HAPPY CAMPERS |
|
|
|
I'm
kneeling to
get down to this little lad's height,
but he then mirrored me, which rather ruined it. |
It looks like
this camper is saying: 'Give us a job - I can do that.' For
starters, he'd have to put the fag out. |
GIRLS, GIRLS, GIRLS |
GIRLS, GIRLS, ???? |
|
|
It looks like Margaret, Pam, and Sue got
out of bed a litttle too early - and a little too quickly. |
Christine joins in to check that the strange looking girl in the middle isn't an imposter, trying to get into their chalet. |

Ayr had the shortest season of
all the camps, so I was lucky, when the season ended, to be asked to go
to
Filey for the rest of the season. There I met with another great team,
but disappointingly I have no photos from my short time there. Luckily for me I was to do another two
seasons.
