CHRIS WILLIAMS

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965

Hello, all you visitors to Redcoats Reunited. That's me above - Chris Williams.
Well, actually - it's not. It is me, but my name is actually PETER Williams.
When I arrived they told me that they already had a 'Peter.'
I put my hand in the badge box and out came Chris, that name stayed with me for three years.

I don't know what it is about me, but  'large' women seemed to want to mother me.

Chris (me) being mothered; Rocky (in the flat cap); and
blonde stunner Sylvia Moss. (Clacton 1965).

Rocky on the left - Chris on the right.

BUTLINS CLACTON 1964

Rocky and me being given more motherly love.

In case you can't figure this one out: one of the ladies in
the Miss Che Che is bending over, and I'm showing
everyone the split in her trousers. 1964

KNOBBLY KNEES COMPETITION

BUTLINS CLACTON KNOBBLY KNEES

If you're worried about my walk - don't be ...

... it's the same one I used for the Holiday Princess competition. (1965)

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965 HOLIDAY PRINCESS

Thought I'd do well in a mixed group, but then ...

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965

... the little girl went all shy on me.
Sylvia, Rocky, and Chris. Can't remember the names of the other two girls. Help!!

Maybe a whole group of kids will be easier to handle.

BUTLINS CLACTON FANCY DRESS

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965

This is more like it - a load of women fighting over me (1965).

And here I am, organising a good old knees-up.

At Prize-Giving, this lady won two empty cardboard boxes.

BUTLINS CLACTON JOE DANIEL

Behind me can be seen 'Joe Daniels and His Hot Shots.'

You've heard of 'Tug O' War,' well how's this for 'TUB WARS.'

BUTLINS CLACTON 1964 TUB RACES

That's me, left (minus glasses) with my secret weapon - a boxing glove on the end
of a piece of rope. My opponent is Mike Sibthorpe. (1964)
.

And here we have 'space wars' - with our weekly 'Hunt the Dalek.'
(That was extremely modern for the early sixties. Certainly far more futuristic than "Hunting for 'Captain Blood.")

BUTLINS CLACTON DOCTOR WHO DALEK

Pictured is Radio Butlin announcer Jane Hollaway,
who inspired the 'Doctor Who' spin-off series
'The Sarah JANE Adventures.'
(Kidding!!)

Demonstrating another of my vast range of talents ...

BUTLINS CLACTON MARCH OF THE MODS

... teaching campers 'The March of the Mods' in the Viennese Ballroom.

And the season ended with handshakes all round.

BUTLINS CLACTON 1965 ROCKY

Me left - Rocky right.

With sincere thanks to Peter Williams for sharing these wonderful memories with us.
