Next to Ken is the stage manager, and next to him is Molly, Roy’s PA. Next to Dave Simpson is his wife Tina.
My wife Isobel Valentine is in the middle of the 7 Redcoats next to Dave.
Above Roy is the camp host, Gordon Mitchell, and above the stage manager is long-time Redcoat, Terry Blackmore.

Before becoming Assistant Ents. Manager ar Barry, Mike was a Redcoat at Bognor for the 1964 and 65 seasons.

Mike writes:
I had the pleasure of acting as Assistant Ents. Manager to Roy Markwell, a man I had great respect for, at the opening season Barry Island 1966.
It was a strange season due to the camp not being finished. 
Many of the signature Butlin attractions were missing. For example: no indoor pool ( great big crack in the side); no fun fair; no rock ballroom; no Blinking Owl. 
This of course attracted a fair number of  complaints. However, under Roy’s leadership the Ents. Department stood up well, and received praise from the London Office.
I personally learnt a lot about people and managing difficult situations.
